Obituary of Marjorie Douglas MRS. I

Marjorie Bowsman Douglas of Salisbury, MD, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Born in Gas City, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Milo Bowsman and Ursula Beitel Bowsman. Marjorie graduated from Marion High School in 1946 and continued her education at Miltonvale Wesleyan College until she married Robert Harvey Douglas on October 27, 1947 at George Street Wesleyan Methodist Church, now Hillside Wesleyan Church. Marjorie was a member of the Bethesda United Methodist Church where she attended until her health declined. As an Army wife, she traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe. When asked where she lived, she always replied "where the Army sends me". She will be remembered in Salisbury by students for the many years she was the media specialist at Beaver Run School and her participation in the Wicomico and Maryland film festivals. She is survived by her husband, Lt. Col. Robert H. Douglas; daughter, Cynthia Douglas Monshower and her husband, Brian Cobb; granddaughter, Dr. Tara Simpson and her husband, Edward; great-grandchildren: Lillian Ruth and Nathaniel Rex Simpson; sister, Doris M. Horn and her husband, Ernest; brother, Jack M. Bowsman and his wife, Carol; sister-in-law, Mrs. Nancy Adkins; nieces: Stephanie Horn and Jacqueline Bowsman and nephews: Douglas Horn and Douglas Adkins and his wife, Deb. Services will be held Monday, October 4, 2010 at 2 pm at Holloway Funeral Home. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts be made to Bethesda United Methodist Church, 406 N. Division St., Salisbury, MD 21801 or the Christian Shelter of Salisbury, 334 Barclay St., Salisbury, MD 21804. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, 501 Snow Hill Rd.
