Obituary of William Albert Hailey
William Albert Hailey, 82, of Horntown, VA, died on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Hartley Hall Nursing Home in Pocomoke City, MD. Born on December 4, 1937 in Waynesboro, VA, he was a son of the late William Edward Hailey and Elsie Robertson Hailey. He worked hard all of his life. He retired from SCM Chemical with 45 years of service and had served in the Army and the Army National Guard. He was also known for his ability to fix or build anything, working by the motto, "If it doesn't fit, force it." He loved crabbing, hunting and loved to pull a joke on anyone, but also as being easy going and sociable. His greatest love was for his family, including his wife of 62 years, children, grand, great grand and great-great grandchildren. William is survived by his devoted wife, Edna May Marie Hailey; two daughters, Edna (Ronald) Carrick of Horntown and Mary (Richard) Schiraldi of Palm Harbor, FL; one brother, Charles Hailey; one sister, Shirley Hepple; one daughter-in-law, Betty Hailey; four grandchildren, Shari Hailey, Melissa Rider, Dustin Carrick, Sr. and Crystal Llewellyn-Senkewich; sixteen great grandchildren, Chase Hailey, Bryce Ott, Elijah Alverez, Luis Alverez, Gabriel Alverez, Emanuel Alverez, Michael Senkewich, Dustin Carrick, Jr., Elaina Marie Alverez, Gage Carrick, Chloe' Hailey, Hunter Carrick, Kirsten Carrick, Gavin Carrick, William Hailey and Courtney Hailey; one great-great grandchild, Jackson Carrick; and ever faithful dog “Prince”. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, William Albert Hailey, Jr.; one grandson, William Edward “Eddie” Hailey and 11 siblings. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 4:00 pm at the Holloway Funeral Home in Pocomoke City. Visitations will be held on Friday 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Saturday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Holloway Funeral Home in Pocomoke City. Cremation will follow the service.
