Obituary of Joyce Parsons

Joyce "Joy" Nock Parsons, 68, of Pocomoke City, died Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, surrounded by her loving family. Born April 1, 1942 in Pocomoke City, she was a daughter of Mary Elizabeth Watson Nock of Pocomoke City and the late Norman Chester Nock. Joy graduated from Pocomoke High School, class of 1960, and was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Pocomoke City, where she was a member of the Outreach Committee and the UMW. She was an active member and Immediate Past President of the Pocomoke City Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was always a Pocomoke sports booster and was active in coaching Ponytail Softball when her girls were growing up. An avid bowler, she was active on many bowling leagues. In additon to her mother, she is survived by her husband, G. Wayne Parsons of Pocomoke City; two daughters, Karen McGee Hess and her husband Danny of Pocomoke City and Lori McGee Holland and her husband Fred of New Church; two sons, Brian Wayne Parsons and his wife Kristi of Severna Park and Mark Alan Parsons and his wife Jodi of Crofton; two sisters, Pam Nock Mariner and her husband Monroe of Berlin and Debbie Nock Guy and her husband Dean of Pocomoke City; nine grandchildren, Byron and Justin Atkinson; Kelsey Hess; Olivia, Miranda and Claire Holland; Emily, Evan and Eleanor Parsons and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Edwin Byron McGee in 1983. A memorial service officiated by Rev. Dr. Sally Dolch, will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, March 7, 2011 at Salem United Methodist Church, 2nd & Walnut Streets, Pocomoke City. Interment in First Baptist Cemetery will be private.
