Evening Prior Visitation
Obituary of Dennis Craig Hook
Dennis Craig Hook, 66, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2019, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
He lived his whole life within the Maryland area. He was the son of William and Elizabeth Hook from Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
He was very proud of his volunteer service as a firefighter where he started in 1970 with Marlboro VFD (20/45) in Prince George’s County at the age of 17 and also served at Huntingtown VFD (6) in Calvert County, and completed his volunteer service with Hebron VFD (5) in Wicomico County.
Dennis and his wife Jill moved to Hebron, Maryland, in 2016. He retired in 2012, but continued with his volunteer firefighter service, which was one of the most important things for him. Dennis also had many stories and photos published in the “Maryland Fire Dispatch” between 2007 and 2017 as it related to fire and rescue calls.
Dennis held many positions throughout his volunteer career with the volunteer fire department. He had operations line officer positions while at the Marlboro VFD, then Affiliated Membership with the Huntingtown VFD, and at the end of his career with the Hebron VFD with positions as Fire Police, Fire Police Captain, and Vice President.
He is survived by his wife, Judith (Jill) Veronica Hook of Hebron, MD; his daughter, Stacey Lynn Hook of Easton, MD; his brother, Larry Hook of Lake City, SC; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Linda Baumgaertner and their daughter Tammy of Federalsburg, MD; his sister-in-law, Bonnie Mesler of Waldorf, MD; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gene and Kathy Baumgaertner of Raleigh, NC; his niece and her husband and their children, Robyn and Jeff Bell and Katie and Jacob of East New Market, MD; his nephews, Roy Mesler and David Mesler of Bethesda, MD, and as Dennis would say, his entire fellow firefighters (brothers and sisters) that he served with across the state of Maryland.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 10 am at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 115 St. Peter’s St., Salisbury, MD 21801. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 29, 2019 from 6 to 8 pm at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. Father David Michaud will be officiating.
If anyone wishes to contribute in any way, Dennis requested that money be given to the Hebron VFD to continue to help the volunteer firefighters and EMS members of Hebron VFD where he served last.
