Obituary of Norman Lee Hostetler

Norman Lee Hostetler, 87, of Westover, MD died Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at the Coastal Hospice Stansell House in Ocean Pines, MD after a long battle with Parkinson's. 

Born in Pocomoke, MD, on May 28, 1932, he was the son of the late Chancy M. Hostetler and Ruth Rebekah (Zook) Hostetler.

Norman served with 1-W Service for 2 1/2 years at the Marlboro State Hospital in Marlboro, NJ.  He was a poultry farmer for most of his life, winning multiple awards for top producer.  He was a lifelong member of the Holly Grove Mennonite Church, Westover, where he served in multiple rolls.  He had a desire to have Christian education for his children and in 1976, he was one of five men who started the Holly Grove Christian School in which he was very involved for many years.  Norman was a faithful servant of God who enjoyed working hard, helping others and spending time with his family.

On November 7, 1958, he married Fern Kathryn Baker.  She preceded him in death in 2004 after 45 years of marriage.

Norman is survived by his children, Tim of Homestead, FL, Trish (Chuck) Kratz of Bellefontaine, OH, Norie (Ron) Kerstetter of Halifax, PA, Jeff (Tiffany Granberg) of Pocomoke, MD, his grandchildren, Emily (Tyler) Norton, Renee (Mauricio) Barahona, Jamey Hostetler (Joel Nixon), Rebekah, Joshua, Josiah, Peter, Anna and Parker Kratz, Leah Zeigler, great grandchildren Averie Barahona and Cooper Norton and a sister, Anna Malin of Pocomoke, MD.

In addition to his parents and wife, Norman was preceded in death by a brother, Harold, of Snow Hill, MD.

Family and friends will gather at the Holly Grove Mennonite Church on Sunday, July 14, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and on Monday, July 15, 2019, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. James Wengerd, will follow on Monday, July 15 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
