Robert A. (Bobby) Carter, 75, of Salisbury, MD and formerly of Washington, D.C., passed away on December 18, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 19, 1943 in Washington, D.C. to the late Robert Ashton and Rose Helen (Sampogna) Carter.
He is survived by his devoted wife, best friend, and the love of his life for over 50 years, Joan, the daughter he cherished and was the light of is life, Terri Carter Hunter, his son-in-law Bill Hunter, who he loved like a son, Bill’s son, Billy (Ana), his daughter Michelle (Rick), and their daughter, Madelyn.
Also survived by his cousins who were more like brothers/sisters to him: John Hall (Susan), and their children, Goddaughter Donna Defreitas (Marcus) and their children, Debbie Santasania (Ronnie), and John Hall, Jr. (deceased); Joanne Angelo (John); Marie Fitzgerald (Charles), and their sons Mark and Jeffrey (deceased); Anna Rubino (John) and their children Heather Althouse (Mike) and their children, and Jason Rubino; Dominick Sampogna (Phyllis); Helen Shirley (Larry) and their children Shannon Marlowe (Rob) and Christopher Shirley; Rosemary Gurick (Clutz), and daughter Nikki. Sister-in-law Barbara McGiffin (Bill) their children Billy (Cindy), Doug, and Wendy Doring (Andy) and their children and grandchildren; brothers-in-law Ernie Rowe, who he loved like a brother, (Dorothy), and their son, Ernie, Jr. (Amy) and John Rowe and his daughter, Sherry.
He is also survived by his best friends for over 50 years, Willie and Dee Berdeguez, who he loved dearly, and a host of friends he treasured in the Washington area--he never tired of talking the “good old days”, which always brought a bright smile to his face.
At his request, he will be cremated (Holloway Funeral Home will provide this service), and a memorial service will be planned for the spring. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to the city of Salisbury Fire Department, Station 1, 1100 Beaglin Park Drive, Salisbury, MD 21804.
