Graham Elmo Haynes, 85, of Salisbury, died on Friday, November 30, 2018, peacefully at Sterling Care at Harbor Pointe in Salisbury, Maryland. Born on May 18, 1933 in Richmond, VA, he was the son of the late Graham Walker Haynes and Elsie Marie Evans Haynes.
At an early age, Graham served in the Army National Guard in Virginia for 3 years. Following his military career, he was employed for 32 years with IBM, starting as an administrative assistant, followed by a member of management, then as a computer software analyst and retiring as a Sonar Engineer. The highlight of Graham's career with IBM was his time spent in Bermuda in 1961 and 1962, working on the Mercury Space Project. Some of Graham's hobbies included bowling, golfing, dancing, daily crossword puzzles, and the year long scrabble match with his wife, Joyce. He was even noted in 2003 in Fredericksburg, Virginia for bowling a 300 game.
Graham is survived by his wife of 17 years, Joyce Haynes, a son, Graham Lee Haynes and his wife Susan; a step-son, David Bedingfield and his wife Karina, a step-daughter, Andrea Berger and her husband Mike, two brothers Ronald Haynes and his wife Judith and Wallace Haynes and his wife Stacey, three grandchildren Walker Haynes, Nicolas Haynes, and Morgan Haynes, and one step grandchild Joseph Berger.
In addition to his parents, Graham was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Phyllis Beasley Haynes.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Harbor Pointe for their excellent care, especially the director of clinical services, and to acknowledge Coastal Hospice for their compassionate service.
Burial and Services will be private.
