Mary Elizabeth Hooks, 78, of Salisbury, died on Monday, August 27, 2018, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Born on May 2, 1940 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Connelly and Isabella Gallagher-Connelly.
She was a member and past president of Happy Timers. Mary was an avid photographer and enjoyed taking photos of wildlife. She and her late husband, Norman, owned and operated Outa'r'gourds crafts. They traveled to various craft shows and were involved with the National Gourd Society.
Loving wife, mother and grandmother, Mary is survived by five children, Theresa M. Shores (Bruce), Robert K. Stancil, Jr. (Billie), Anthony D. Stancil (Margie), Deborah A. Stancil-Beshears (Steve) and Steven M. Stancil; four grandchildren, Michelle N. Morgan, Crystal M. Chatham (LW), Allison B. Stancil and Robert K. Stancil, III; four great-grandchildren, Zachary Chatham, Logan Chatham, Tessa Wilson, Ella Wilson; a sister, Cathy Henderson (Alan); and three brothers, Tom Connelly (Bonnie), Jack Connelly (Pat) and Jimmy Connelly.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Norman M. Hooks and two brothers, Joseph Connelly and Francis Gallagher.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
