Obituary of Calvin Leon Baynard

Calvin Leon "Flash" Baynard, 65, of Pocomoke City, died on Thursday, May 10, 2018, surrounded by his family following a long illness at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Born on February 5, 1953 in Easton, MD, he was a son of the late Clayton and Frieda Degan Baynard.

Following graduation from Mardela High School in 1971, he worked for Lewis West as a licensed plumber. He volunteered in the U.S. Army from 1976 - 1982, where he earned the rank of Sgt.  While in the Army he began his driving career, which continued following his discharge, as an independent driver until joining Perdue, Inc. as a driver in 1985, retiring in 2016, with 31 years of service and 3 million miles of safe driving. He loved his yard, squirrels and his 1972 El Camino, but his wife, and family, especially the grandchildren were his world.

Calvin is survived by his wife of nearly 33 years, Debbie Smith Baynard; three daughters, Angie O. Jones (Brian), Jennifer Outten (David) all of Pocomoke City, MD, and Amanda Baynard (Justin) of Greenwood, DE; one son, Aaron Baynard (Kacy) of Pocomoke City, MD; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Jones (Alyssa), Brianna Jones, Mackenzie Daisey, A.J. Baynard, Leland Smith, Bently Baynard and Kayden Baynard; three brothers, Wayne Baynard (Dot) Carl Baynard (Jeanie) and Jimmy Baynard (Chrissy); two sisters, Pat Peiffer (Ralph) and Betty Watson (Eddie); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service, officiated by the Rev. Kerry Hinton, will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Holloway Funeral Home, P.A. in Pocomoke City, where family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service. Interment with military honors will follow in the First Baptist Church Cemetery in Pocomoke City, MD.
