Obituary of Margaret Nixon

Margaret M. Andrews Nixon, 93, of Bethel, DE, died on Monday, March 12, 2018, peacefully at Atria Senior Living in Salisbury.  Born on August 18, 1924 in Vienna, MD, she was the daughter of the late Cyrus and Dora Ellis May.


Growing up a farmer's daughter, Margaret spent most of her life as a homemaker caring for her loving family, who she thought the world of.  She enjoyed gardening, watching birds, singing, traveling, cooking and playing the piano. She was a former member of the Miami Central Church of the Nazarene in Miami, FL, where she served as church organist, Sunday School Teacher and was a board member. In addition, she was a lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene.   


Margaret is survived by three sons, James "Jim" K. Andrews Jr. and his significant other Pat Mulligan, Robert G. Andrews, Sr. and his wife Lynn, and Richard M. Andrews; two daughters, Jane Andrews McClung and her husband Gilbert and Barbara J. Andrews Wood and her husband Randall; four grandsons, Michael McClung and his wife Ruth, John McClung and his wife Emily, Robert G. Andrews Jr. and his wife Courtney and William J. Andrews; four granddaughters, Christy McClung, Caylin E. Andrews, Miranda J Wood, and Jenna M. Wood; a sister, Helen Malkus as well as several nieces and nephews.


In addition to her parents, Margaret is preceded in death by her first husband, James Kenneth Andrews who passed away in 1996 and her second husband Rev. Clifton B. Nixon, who passed away in 2003.


A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Cross Pointe Church of the Nazarene in Salisbury.  A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 6-8pm at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury as well as one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow at Shad Point Cemetery.
