Obituary of Dorothy Paradis

Dorothy Lillian Paradis, 90, of Salisbury died on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Wicomico Nursing Home.  Born in Somerville, MA on July 4, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Francis A. Madigan and Mary L. Madigan.


In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Paul Joseph Paradis.


Dorothy is survived by her three children, Denise Paradis Snight and her husband David of Myrtle Beach, SC, Adrienne Elaine Varieur and her husband Raymond of Silver Spring, MD and Joseph Paul Paradis and his wife Barbara Jayne Nazelrod of Salisbury, MD; six grandchildren, Timothy Andrew Nazelrod (wife Krista), Randall Davis Snight, Daniel Paul Snight, Lillian Elaine Varieur, Olivia Pauline Paradis and Felix Luke Paradis, and three great-grandchildren.


She graduated from Somerville High School in Somerville, MA in 1946.  After graduation she worked in retail and banking until getting married to Paul in 1951. Dorothy stayed at home to care for her children. The family moved to Silver Spring, MD in 1964. She served as the volunteer school librarian at St. Camillus School until 1978.  In 1976 the family purchased a second home in Ocean City, MD and in 1982 Dorothy and Paul moved to Ocean City year round.


Dorothy enjoyed weekend family visits from her children and their families in Ocean City and socializing with many new friends that she and Paul made. She continued her volunteer work with the American Heart Association, Mended Hearts and the Knights of Columbus - Ladies Auxiliary. She also enjoyed bowling, line dancing, poker and bingo.


She was a very loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her legacy lives on in the love she shared with her family and friends.


A service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday March 19, 2018 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD.
