Obituary of Mary & Bob Baldwin

The family of Mary and Bob Baldwin are saddened to announce the passing of this loving couple.


Robert G. Baldwin Jr. of Salisbury passed away May 9, 2016 at the age of 88. He was born June 17, 1927 in Baltimore Md. to the late Robert G. and Marie Baldwin. At the time of his passing, he was survived by his loving wife Mary D. Baldwin. They were just shy of celebrating their 69th wedding anniversary. He was also survived by his devoted son Robert M. Baldwin of Salisbury, granddaughter Lauren H Bennett of Salisbury whom he adored and three great grandsons, Cody M. Bennett, Tyler M. Bennett and Carson D. Bennett. who were the apples of his eye. Also surviving were his son in law Victor G. Lowe of Hebron, a brother Ronald Baldwin of Williamsport, Md. and many nieces and nephews.  Bob’s other siblings include the late Allen Baldwin and Thelma Ritter.


Mary D. Baldwin of Salisbury passed away on December 15, 2017 at the age of 90.  She was born September 22, 1927 to the late Fielder and Mae Ireland of Baltimore. She is survived by her loving son Robert M. Baldwin of Salisbury, beloved granddaughter, Lauren H. Bennett, three great grandsons Cody M. Bennett, Tyler M. Bennett and Carson D. Bennett whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by son in law Victor G. Lowe of Hebron and many nieces and nephews whom she loved. Mary’s immediate family of siblings all passed before her and include the late Thomas Ireland, Marguerite Cole, John Ireland, Ella Mae Hoover and Robert Ireland.


Both Mary and Bob were preceded in death by their beautiful daughter, Pam Lowe of Hebron, whom they loved very much and missed terribly every day for the rest of their lives.


Mr. Baldwin was a US Army veteran and retired from GMAC after 30 years of service. Mrs. Baldwin worked at Farm Credit and Delmarva Power and Light. She was also one of the first “weather girls” on WBOC news during the early 1960’s.

After retirement, they opened up Bomar Gift Nook at 45th Street Village in Ocean City, Md. which they operated for the next two decades. They enjoyed serving their many new and repeat customers and really enjoyed traveling the country to attend the many gift shows during the off season.

The adventurous couple also enjoyed traveling with their son Bob, on multiple cruises to the Caribbean, Mexico and Alaska and many short and long road trips to America’s most beautiful destinations and National Parks.

Since Spring was their favorite time of the year, a joint celebration of their lives, their love and their marriage is being planned for a warm, sunny Saturday afternoon, most likely in April. The actual date and time will be announced as soon as available.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be sent in their memory to West Salisbury Little League. One of their favorite things to do was spend warm summer days and nights at the ball park watching their great grandsons play ball. West Salisbury Little League, PO Box 2102, Salisbury, Md. 21802.
