Obituary of Charles Fooks, Jr.
Charles, “Chuck”, Thomas Fooks, Jr., 63, of Salisbury, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at his home. Born in Salisbury, he was the son of Charles Thomas Fooks, Sr. of Salisbury and the late Lucille Rose Sanford Fooks.
Chuck was a 1972 graduate of Wicomico High School and attended the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. He was a proud US Coast Guard veteran, serving from 1974 – 1978. Chuck became a Professional Horticulturist and Landscape Designer. He grew up working in his family’s business, Woodland Nursery. From his lifelong experience in the nursery industry, he established Horticultural Services, a landscape design consulting business. Most recently, he had been enjoying working with Marshall’s River Bank Nursery. An avid hunter, Chuck worked with area youth as a Volunteer Hunter Safety Educator. An outdoorsman to the core, he loved canoeing, fishing, bike riding, planting, gardening, and all of nature. Working on new plant projects was a passion for him and he gave relentless energy and focus to his work. Chuck was a mentor to many and loved by all who knew him.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Amanda Irene Fooks; two children, Garrett Lee Fooks and Kelsey Amanda Fooks, both of Salisbury; two sisters, Cindy Burt (Dan) and Faith Fooks, both of Salisbury.
A Celebration of His Life will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Officiating will be Pastor Wayne Mathis.
