Obituary of Phyliss Parker

Phyliss Juanita Parker, 84, known to her friends and family as "Nita" passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 while surrounded by her family. Born on November 25, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Norman N. Hatton and Ruth (Hensley) Hatton-King. She grew up in Alexandria, VA and moved to the Eastern Shore in 1973. She married her husband, Buck, on September 20, 1947 and would have celebrated 70 years of marriage this year had she not had to say good bye to him on August 21, 2017.

Nita along with her husband and son, moved to Hebron in 1973, where she supported her husband starting his own drywall business, Parker Drywall. As a fulltime homemaker, she provided and cared for her family, in the only way she knew how, a devoted wife and mother. One never stepped into her kitchen with a crisis that couldn't be solved at the table over a cup of coffee and a plate of delicious homemade food. An avid gardener, she grew her own vegetables and fruits for many years. In the summer, you'd find the house smelled of berries from the homemade jellies she made or the salty brine that her bread and butter pickles were sealed in. Nita loved to read her romance novels, play cards, work on word search puzzles but nothing meant more to her then having her children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren stopping by to visit.

Nita is survived by her daughters, Phyliss (John) Peacher, Barbara (Paul) Maloney, Brenda Lockard, and her only son, Albert (Vickie) Parker, Jr. Additionally, she leaves behind her baby brother, whom she loved dearly, Norman Hatton and her sister Marie Reed. She is also survived by six grandchildren. She leaves behind ten great-grand children, several nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. She has left behind years of history that she shared, photographs that she kept and mementos of generation that few can remember.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret Eastridge and Mary (Molly) Zimbro.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff of Coastal Hospice. Those special Angels were dedicated to the care, comfort and support of Nita and the entire family's needs during her journey to be with Lord.
