Robert Thomas "Tommy" Givens

Robert Thomas "Tommy" Givens, 66, of Wattsville, VA, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 2, 2018 in a lakeside cabin, while on a fishing vacation in South Carolina. Born on July 26, 1951 in Salisbury, MD, he was the son of the late Robert and Constance Givens.

Tommy graduated from Pocomoke High School and following his service in the Army, began his career in heating and air conditioning. He founded, "Blackwater Heating and Air Conditioning" prior to accepting a position at NASA, Wallops Island, as a Facilities Management Specialist. After twelve years of office work, he was eager to get out in the field and apply his "hands on" experience, so he left NASA and started "Givens Heating and Air Conditioning" before joining E.M.R. Services as a service technician in May of 2003.

Tommy loved bass fishing and was a member of the "Just-A-Mere Bass Club".

Tommy is survived by his daughter, Kacey Givens Clough and her husband, Hayden of Virginia Beach, VA; one granddaughter, Harper Clough; one sister, Karen Givens Schumeyko and her husband, Tony of Snow Hill, MD; three step-daughters, Hillary Tapman (Matthew), Brandi Pianka (Phil) and Krista Butler (Cody); one niece, Janel Flower (Gary); two nephews, Christopher Givens (Kylie) and Michael Givens (Lauren); lifelong friends, Art Sexton and his wife Louise, who accompanied him on his final fishing vacation. He is also survived by a host of friends and coworkers at E.M.R. and his faithful German Shephard companion, Max.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jeryl Givens.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Holloway Funeral Home, P.A. in Pocomoke City, MD, where family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service.  Rev. Maury Enright will officiate. Interment will follow in Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery, Third Street, in Pocomoke City, MD.
