Obituary of Clarence Stahl

Clarence “Herb” Stahl, 76, passed away on February 22, 2018 at Lakeside Assisted Living under the care of Coastal Hospice. Prior to moving to Lakeside Assisted Living he resided in Laurel, DE and attended Independent Bible Fellowship Church in Harrington, DE.

He graduated in 1960 from Merchantville Hight School in New Jersey, then went on to serve six years in the US Air Force stationed at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey. HE retired as a HVAC master installer from Steamfitters Union Local #402 in Philadelphia. He was an EMT and dedicated his life to helping people. Herb was very involved with the US Paralympics and traveled worldwide with them. He was head coach for the weightlifting team and an assistant coach for the track and field team. He also coached the Philadelphia Paranauts basketball team. He refereed Pan American Wheelchair games and track and field competitions around the world. Herb was one of three writers for the National Jr. Wheelchair even rules. Her was a hot rod, dirt track racing, and train enthusiast. He was a member of the Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club and Southern Delaware Street Rod Association.

Herb will be missed by his brother, Williwm Stahl of NC and close friends, Pam Herman and Scott Van Gorder.

A memorial service will be held at Hannigan Short Funeral Home in Laurel, DE at a later date.
