Obituary of Virginia Navarro

Virginia Buchanan Navarro, 81, of Salisbury, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Coastal Hospice at The Lake surrounded by her family. Born on December 16, 1936 in Nassawadox, VA, she was the daughter of the late George Melvin and Virginia Mapp Buchanan of Cape Charles, VA.

She served her Lord as a Sunday school teacher for many years and was an active member of the Atlantic Baptist Church for 50 years, often serving as a Bible School teacher and on various committees.

She attended Radford College for two years en route to her Associates Degree in Medical Technology from Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA.

She was an avid reader, especially of English novels, loving all things English. One of her favorite past times was surfing the internet, reading the latest medical sites and researching the theological sites relating to the Bible. 

Virginia is survived by her husband of 58 years, Roger Lee Navarro and daughter, Virginia Ann Navarro, both of Salisbury, MD. Other survivors include; a sister-in-law, Anna Faye Navarro Elkins of Salisbury, NC; a niece, Julie Ann Evers (Frank) and their children, Josh and Courtney Evers Maurney (Sam) of Rockwell, NC; a nephew, Neil Avant (Felicia) and their son Devin of Elizabethtown, NC; cousins Leslie Ward (Janice), Curtis Ward, Jr. (Cindy), Pamela Ward Goddard, Ann Floyd, Francis McClung Buchanan and Donna Ward and her spiritual brothers and sisters at the Atlantic Baptist Church. She especially loved her dogs, Murphy and Chester.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Atlantic Baptist Church, 10084 Atlantic Road, Atlantic, VA. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church and on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Holloway Funeral Home, P.A. in Pocomoke City from 6-8PM. Rev. Rev. Richard Inman will officiate.  Interment will follow in the John W. Taylor Memorial Cemetery in Temperanceville, VA.
