Obituary of Doris Baker

Doris E. Baker, 95, of Seaford died on Friday, December 22, 2017 at her home.  Born on October 10, 1922 in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late William Littleton and Vergie Parker Littleton.

 

In addition to her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Everett S. Baker; a daughter, Wanda L. Cropper and a brother, Calvin Littleton.

 

Doris is survived by her daughter Denise B. Jackson and her husband Keith of Seaford; a son-in-law Pastor Courtland Cropper and his wife Betty of Salisbury; two grandchildren, Cynthia Causey and her husband Kevin and Courtnie Jones and her husband Aaron; six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Kasie (Andrew), Jordan (Margaret), Jacob, Erin and Candice; four great-great grandchildren, Kayleigh, Landon, Kelley and Jaxson, several nieces and nephews, special neighbors, Robert and Brenda Wood and Jim and Evie Mitchell and her special church family.

 

She was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pittsville and later became a member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church in Seaford.  Doris was very active member of Gethsemane and was involved in the United Methodist Women.  For 18 years she worked as a Teacher’s Assistant at Pittsville Elementary and Middle School.  She was also a member of the Pittsville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Pittsville Lions Club Ladies Auxiliary, Pittsville PTA and the Sussex County Grange. She was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan and was famous for her cakes and macaroni and cheese.  She enjoyed feeding the birds and cats.

 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.  A viewing will be held from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 as well as one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in Wicomico Memorial Park, Salisbury.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Gethsemane United Methodist Church, 2701 Stein Highway, Seaford, DE 19973 or Seasons Hospice, 30265 Commerce Drive, Unit 205, Millsboro, DE 19966.
