Obituary for Mary Malvina Smith
Mary Malvina Smith, 89, of Salisbury died on Monday, November 20, 2017 at Deers Head Hospital in Salisbury. Born on April 20, 1928 in Fruitland, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Pansy Smith. She was born with spina bifida, and because of her great spirit, she overcame this disability.
She was home schooled until the fifth grade, and then went on to grade and high school. Later in life she underwent many surgeries at Kernan and Johns Hopkins hospital. Malvina was able to work for 45 years at Woolworth in the downtown Salisbury area until her most recent surgery that left her paralyzed from the waist down. For the last several years she spent her time at the Deers Head Hospital where the staff was wonderful and she kept them laughing.
Malvina is survived by her sister, Joann and her brother, Jerry (Beverly). Most dear to her was her nephew, Matt Smith (Nikki) and their nine children.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at 2:30 pm at Siloam Cemetery on the corner of Siloam Road and Campground Road in Eden.
