Celia Marie Ivers, 77, of Salisbury, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018, peacefully at Coastal Hospice At The Lake. Born on August 29, 1940 in Manhattan, NY, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Katherine Regan Sofio.
Celia graduated from Oceanside High School in New York. On June 9, 1962, she married Joseph Ivers. She was best known for her cooking and enjoyed traveling the world. Most of her life, Celia was devoted to the care of children as a stay at home mother. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Parish in Salisbury.
Celia is survived by her husband Joseph “Joe” Ivers of Salisbury; a daughter, Kara Rodriguez and her husband Tony of Salisbury; a son, Kevin Ivers of Washington, DC; two grandsons, Anthony Rodriguez and his wife Brittany of Alexandria, VA and Christopher Rodriguez of Salisbury; a granddaughter, Katie Rodriguez of Baltimore, MD; a great-granddaughter, Lillian Rodriguez of Alexandria, VA; one brother, Thomas Sofio and Linda; four sisters, Mary Atanasio and her husband Charles, Kathy Callery, Felicia Kobbe and her husband Hank, Regina Perman and husband Dennis all of New York; as well as many, many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Celia is preceded by a brother, Daniel Sofio.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Salisbury. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 pm and from 6 to 8 pm at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury as well as one half hour prior to the service at the church.
