Obituary for Betty Lorraine Hommel

Betty Lorraine Hommel, 90, of Salisbury, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017, peacefully at Coastal Hospice. Born on November 19, 1926 in Salisbury, MD, she was the daughter of the late George and India Lester Broughton.

She graduated from Wicomico High School in 1944. Betty was employed as a billing secretary for Dr. Thomas Berry until his retirement. She enjoyed playing Bridge and bowling.

Betty is survived by two sons, John M. Hommel Jr. and his wife Deborah and Timothy Hommel and his wife Sharon; one grandson, John Hommel, III; three granddaughters, Jessica Snader and her husband Chris, Whitney Jarvis and her husband Richard, and Samantha Hommel; two great-grandsons, Christopher Snader and Jack Jarvis; a great-granddaughter, Avery Snader; a sister, Barbara E. Donoway; 4 step-grandchildren and 8 step-great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, John Hommel, Sr. and a brother, George Broughton.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church or Coastal Hospice.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 23, 2017 at 11:00 am at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.
