Obituary for Edwin "Ted" Carey

Edwin "Ted" Carey
Edwin P. “Ted” Carey died on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Margaret Powell and Wolford M. Carey of Fruitland.

Ted graduated from Wicomico High School in 1946. He attended the then Salisbury State College before joining the Air Force in 1948. He served 4 years during the Korean War. On leaving the service he joined the Salisbury Post Office where he remained until his retirement in1990.

Ted is survived by his wife, Rose Embry Carey. Also surviving are his four children, David P. Carey and his wife Brenda, Jeffrey W. Carey and Susan E. Carey, all of Salisbury. His daughter Margaret C. “Peggy” and her husband Daniel Holder live in Bowie, MD. There are three grandchildren, Andrew S. Carey of Montgomery, AL, Gavin S. Carey of Salisbury, Isabel R. Holder of Bowie, MD and one great-granddaughter, Clover Elizabeth Carey of Montgomery AL.

Ted was a lifelong member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Fruitland. He was associated with the East Salisbury Little League for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Peninsula Beagle Club. He was also a longtime member of the Hide-a-way Hunt Club and was for many years the president of the North Salisbury Neighborhood Assoc. He especially enjoyed being with the “Friday Night Dinner Club”.

Ted was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be missed by his many friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 8, 2017 at Holloway Funeral Home, P.A. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held privately in Parsons Cemetery.

In lieu of flower, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
