Obituary for Robert Brown

Robert Brown
Robert Vaughn Brown, 85, of Delmar, MD, died on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake. He was born in Salisbury on February 19, 1932 to the late Howard B. Brown and Helen C. Brown. He graduated from Wicomico High School in 1951 and worked for the M.J. Taylor Convenience store until enlisting in the United States Marines from 1952 through 1954. Afterwards he returned to working for the Taylors until 1958. He was then employed by BP Oil Company from 1958 to 1978 as Terminal Superintendent. The oil company relocated to Providence, RI and Bob chose to terminate his employment. He and his wife purchased B & J Market on Mt. Hermon Road in July of 1978. He and his son, Bobby, have managed the store for 39 years.
He is a member of Christ United Methodist Church and Elks Lodge #817. He is also a former member of the American Power Boat Association of Cambridge, MD. He was an avid sportsman in boat racing from his teenage years until the early 1990’s, driving outboard runabouts and inboard hydroplanes.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jeanette Tull Brown, a son, Robert H. Brown (Paula) of Parsonsburg; a daughter, Susan B. Robinson (Tom) of Salisbury, two granddaughters, Katie S. Parsons (Jake) and Lauren E. Brown. He has one great grandchild, Cole Edward Parsons. He has one brother, Raymond B. Brown of Salisbury, one sister-in-law, Rosemary Brown of Delmar, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Donald H. Brown and Gordon H. Brown, and two sisters, Alice B. Budnichuk and Betty L. Brown.
A visitation will be held at Holloway Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral will be held at Christ United Methodist Church on Phillip Morris Drive on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 1:00 PM with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Parsons Cemetery.
